“Wanda!! What the hell are you doing? Is that my TV?? And my bed frame?”
Malcolm was livid he had jumped onto the truck to get a better look while the movers were adding to the pile.
“Wait… wait I just KNOW you ain’t got all my shit on this damn truck!”
“Relax Malcolm it isn’t all your shit sweetie. Just the things I bought. You had to have known this was coming…. You’ve been unemployed for how long now? And I’m just tired of footing the bills. I told you from the beginning I’m used to a certain….. lifestyle and you assured me it wouldn’t be a problem. But look at us!!” Holding her arms up gesturing to the surroundings around them.
“Look at how we’re living! It disgusts me to even be here!!”
Malcolm jumped from the truck and slowly walked toward her. She could tell by the look in his eyes that this may not have been her best move.
“Malc—.” He placed his finger over her lips.
“Shhhhhh…. That’s enough talking. Now you listen.” Malcolm chuckled “I didn’t know you could take back gifts. I would never ask for anything I bought you, back. So for you to literally pack up the shit you bought me out of supposedly love is foul. Second, when you died to move here 1 year ago I told you I may be out of a job while I get my credentials transferred so I wouldn’t have to start all the way over. You said you were fine with that. Neither one of us could’ve known the market was going to crash the way it did. But I gave you my world to stick beside me and I would make sure all of this would be worth it in the end. And all during that time did you go without the necessities? True the splurges and gifts slowed down but I made sure everything else was good. I’ve cleared majority of my savings… FOR YOU!! So WE were good. And this is the thanks I get? A packed up truck? If I hadn’t come outside when I did, would you have even said goodbye?”
“Yes I would’ve said goodbye, I was just about to send a text. And you’re right I didn’t expect the market to take a turn. But that one year turned into two and that’s just too much for me honey. And duhh I was supposed to tell you I’ll stick beside you, but no woman really means that. Sooo, you’re fault.”
Wanda put on her Dior sunglasses and stepped off the sidewalk to her car parked behind the moving truck that was now locked and ready to go.
“Listen, Malcolm.. we had fun. We were supposed to spend the rest of our lives together but if you don’t have a back up plan when shit hits the fan I can’t work with you. I need a man. A man that will take charge and make shit happen even when he can’t. Not one that would rather sit on the couch and chill writing in a journal all the time. If things pick up for you, hit me up… mkay?”
Malcolm stood there and watched how his fiancé was literally driving off into the sunset with a truck full of his things. He didn’t want to face his bare apartment and the scraps she’d left for him. Just then Rick, his neighbor/landlord, walked up when he heard all the commotion.
“Damn! That’s fucked up Mal. I saw the whole thing but decided to stay out of black folks business. I should’ve known something was up when she asked me about packing tape the other day. My bad man, I guess I could’ve done something.”
Malcolm just gave Rick the side eye. “ It’s cool man, every dog has its day.”
“Yea you’re right about that. And nobody gives a fuck about Wanda bad built body ass anyway, come on let’s go get a drink maybe we’ll see some hoes.” The two continued walking down the side walk and turned the corner.

Back at Top Notch, Jess saw the whole altercation. She even saw the moving truck pull up at the exact moment Malcolm was walking into the building.
“That’s just sad as hell. She didn’t have to do him like that.” Shaking her head taking a sip of her tea.
“Right! And he’s so damn fine.. mm mm mm.. “ a feminine voice said behind her.
She swiveled around to see her gay assistant Pedro, using a file folder to fan himself. “May I help you Pedro? Isn’t there something you need to be doing?”
“Hmmm no, not really. Mr. Heartbreak down there was your last interview and we had no showings today. So if you don’t need me for anything else…….”
Jess laughed, she loved Pedro and his spirit. “You’re done for the day Pedro, you can head on out. I’ll be leaving shortly myself anyway. It’s date night.” She said dryly.
“Ew I’ll need you to put some pep in your voice mam. I would not want to take you anywhere with that attitude.”
“I’m peppy. It’s just we always do the same thing. And have the same boring sex. Is it too much to ask for some spontaneity every now and then?”
“No girl” popping his lips together after applying some lip gloss. “ it’s not, but maybe he isn’t aware of what you want. You know these men are dumb. Sometimes you gotta spell it out child.”
“ I have, several times P.” Jess replied defeatedly.
“We’ll honey, it’s only one thing to do if you’ve communicated. You’ll just have to sit on his face.” He shrugged while applying some mascara.
Jess looked shocked, not at the act, but at Pedro’s candidness.
He flipped his jacket on and grabbed his bag. “I’m serious. Just take it. Tell him you want to try something different. I remember gifting you a nice red lingerie number last year for your birthday. So put that on and just have at it. Let me know how it goes! Love youuu!!!” Yelling over his shoulder as he hit the elevator button.
Jess sat there and laughed. “Hell I might as well.” She collected her things and left a few minutes after she heard Tonya tell her she was gone for the day as well. “Let’s get this shit over with girl.” She said to herself in the mirror.
Winston was already there when Jess pulled to the valet. He had their same table as always, on the patio. She crossed over to him and he stood to greet her with a kiss. His tall frame swallowed her. At one time he made her flesh burn with excitement her body throbbing for him. But for the past five years there was a shift. He didn’t look at her the same. The conversations got shorter and the arguments had gotten longer. They agreed to date nights throughout the week a year ago in marriage counseling. She didn’t realize how badly she missed her friend. She figured once they learned to talk to each other again, the intimacy would come. But day after day, year after year.. nothing.
“Babe, did you hear me? I said I ordered for you so you don’t need the menu.”
“Yes, I heard you but I might want to try something different tonight. I’m feeling… spontaneous,” giving him a smirk. “I’ll have the house special, with the soup and a glass of Red Zinfandel thanks,” handing over the menu. She decided to put her best foot forward and make the best of the evening.
“So how was your day baby?” Anything good happen?”
Winston was typing viscously on his phone he didn’t hear his wife order a glass of wine for $99 or her question. He looked up for a second to see her looking back at him with a forced half smile.
“I’m sorry, did you say something babe?”
Before she could respond her glass of wine was placed in front of her. She was saved. “No sweetheart, not a thing.” Taking a nice size sip.
Dinner was silent and delicious. Whatever the house special was tasted so good. She only ordered it to get a rise out of her husband. The only thing that would’ve made it better was taking off her DD bra. She wanted so badly to get naked and have her rolls caressed and kissed maybe even bitten. She leaned over to Winston and told him she had a surprise for him later that night. He looked intrigued and for a split second he looked at her the way he used to. But an incoming text message took that away.
“We really have to talk when we get home” he said with a straight face.
“Ok but I’m doing my surprise first”. Jess had two more glasses of wine so she paid no mind to his wrinkled forehead and the serious expression he had. By the time the check came Jess had excused herself to the ladies room, she didn’t want to see his face when he saw the bill amount. She fluffed up her hair and touched up her makeup. The red lingerie outfit filled her mind and she caught herself smiling. She decided to throw on some heels to pull the whole look together.
About 8 minutes later she pulled into the garage. She ran up the stairs to see Winston again on his phone sitting on the bed. She hopped in the shower and could hear him moving in and out of the closet. She applied her oils and creams then slipped on the red teddy. She hated her red bottoms but she decided to keep taking one for the team and hell she was fine fine. Her chocolate skin popped against the velvet red. “Thank youu Pedro” she said to herself admiring her body. She exited the bathroom to see Winston standing in the doorway bags in hand.
“We really need to talk Jessica. I’ve been trying to find the words and the right time.”
Taking smalls steps toward her. He reached out for her hand.
I think we can both agree that our marriage is over. We put in the work, you more so than I, and I really don’t deserve you. I don’t know how to say this so I’m just going to blurt it out…. I’ve found someone else. You’ve done nothing wrong and it’s not you, it’s me. I’ve been selfish.”
Jess couldn’t believe what she was hearing and feeling. She felt so relieved and was speechless. Maybe it was shock or the wine. But it scared her that she was this calm. She closed her robe and walked back into the closet to change into something more fitting for this conversation.
She exited wearing a big shirt and started to turn down the bed and call it a night. It had truly been one hell of a day.
“I think you should leave now Winston and please lock up behind you and put the key in the hideaway place. Later this week we can discuss you coming over to get the rest of your things.”
“That’s it Jessica? We aren’t going to discuss this. I was expecting a bit more than just lock up when I leave.”
“You’ve said all you wanted to say. Your body language has been telling me all you needed to say for these past couple of years. If your upset because I’m not giving you the reaction you wanted then babe that sounds like a personal problem. So like I said… please lock up behind you. My lawyer will be in touch. Goodnight”
Winston left.
Jess laid there and listened to the empty house. The house he’d built for them. One slow tear left her eye. She needed a quick nut to put her to sleep before more fell. She grabbed her bullet and placed it on her clit. She thought about her and Tonyas morning session. She clicked the button for the vibration to intensify. Her clit was swelling. She moved the bullet to her pussy hole and felt how wet she was. She then made little circles on her clit and could felt it throbbing she was about to cum, thinking of how Tonyas pussy tasted sent her over. She came her clit pulsating and jumping. Her body flenched and she rode her orgasm. The only strength she had was to turn off the bullet and roll over. Her toy still laying beside her where her husband used to sleep.
